Get to Know the Ella Staff – Emma

Meet Emma Creamer, our Collections Assistant and newest intern!

Having grown up “right down the street” in Mason, MI, Emma is super excited to have the opportunity to work at the Ella Sharp Museum! Emma is currently a graduate student at Michigan State University and is pursuing the thesis track MA in the Arts, Cultural Management, and Museum Studies program, as well as a graduate certificate in community engagement. She got her BA in anthropology with a minor in classical archaeology from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). Using her background in community-driven archaeological research, she plans on writing her thesis on community-based participatory methodologies as a form of decolonization in archaeology and how those methods can be applied to current museum collections and museum collecting strategies.

As part of the redevelopment of the history gallery, Emma will be cataloging and researching all objects contained within. She will be making recommendations for rehousing, and help Curatorial Affairs department move forward with a fresh, new interpretation of the space.

We look forward to seeing the work you do Emma! The museum is happy to have you here.
