Group Visit FAQ

When can we visit?
The museum is available for field trips, Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Special accommodations can be made for Mondays.

How many individuals can you accommodate at one time during my group visit?
If visiting all areas of the museum, we can accommodate up to 100 people. If group visits can be split, we can accommodate the following in each section:

  • The Hurst Planetarium (accommodates up to 50 people at a time)
  • The Museum Exhibits and Galleries (accommodates up to 50 people at a time)
  • Ella Sharp’s Hillside Farmhouse & historic buildings (accommodates up to 15 people at a time)
  • Museum Collections (Objects & Artifacts) (accommodates up to 15 people at a time)

How soon can I book?
Please book at least one week in advance before your visit

What is the cost?
$4-$6 per student. There is no charge for teachers or chaperones who are attending. One chaperone required per 10 students.

How long is an average visit to the Ella?
1.5 – 2 hours

Is there a place to eat lunch?
Eating lunch on-site is available upon request. If you’ve reserved a spot to eat inside of the museum, bring lunches off of the bus. Museum staff will move them to the designated area.

There is also a playground across the street, in the park, that has pavilion seating. The area is first come first serve. If you are eating in the park, leave lunches on the bus, in vehicles, or securely zipped in backpacks.

Is there parking available?
All day parking is available at no charge in the museum parking lot. This includes parking for buses, chaperones, personal parking, and van parking.

How do I pay for a field trip?
Field trips can be paid for day of, at the front desk, with cash, credit, or check. You may also request to be invoiced, which will be sent after your visit. Invoices can be paid with check or credit.
