Reverse Vat Dyeing: Tie Dye Workshop
In this workshop we will be folding and binding 4 black cotton bandanas to create discharged patterns in a heated vat of color remover. Throughout the course of this workshop students will be provided literature, lecture/conversation, and hands on learning!
Sodium hydrosulfite is the active ingredient on Rit Color Remover, which is what we will be using to discharge the black out of the bandanas. Part of this class will be held outside for proper ventilation. PPE will be provided, feel free to bring your own mask if you want.
There will be some down time for each class, so a potluck is encouraged! Bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy the cash bar that Ella Sharp Museum will have provided. Please wear clothing that you wouldn’t mind a potential splash of dye on.
