Karen F. Dunigan Community HeART Program
The Karen F. Dunigan Community HeART Program honors the legacy of Karen F. Dunigan, a dedicated advocate for arts education and community enrichment in Jackson. Originally established in 2014, the program was created to provide creative arts education to underserved children and families at the Jackson Interfaith Shelter. Through hands-on art classes, participants discovered the power of self-expression, improved cognitive development, and built a sense of connection and hope during challenging times.
Now, Ella Sharp Museum is proud to relaunch this program under its original mission while expanding its reach to include additional local nonprofits that serve families and children. The revitalized program will offer monthly art classes, planetarium shows, and guided museum tours to participating groups, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Participants will also take home art supplies to encourage continued creativity beyond the museum experience.
By combining arts education with meaningful experiences, the Karen F. Dunigan Community HeART Program seeks to foster creativity, inspire confidence, and nurture the potential of every individual it serves.
