Charlene Pung was born in and raised in Portland Michigan and moved to Jackson with her Jackson in 1974. While her she spent many years working as a nurse; Charlene was passionate about art. Completely self-taught, her work encompasses several mediums, her favorite being watercolor.

Charlene immersed herself withing Jackson’s art scene, taking classes at the Ella Sharp Museum, becoming heavily involved in the Jackson Civic Art Association (now the Jackson Art Association), eventually serving as their president and other board positions over the years. Charlene’s work has been exhibited at the Jackson College Potter Center, even earning a Best in Show award.

She painted things she loved, like flowers. Charlene’s paintings are often on a large scale because she finds it easier to work big than small and not get hung up in the details.
