Lockdown During COVID 19 – Ivyanne Augustine

Lockdown During COVID 19

With this painting, I was interested in working with form to create a sense of flow. I was inspired by the cave paintings in France, some of the oldest human art in the world. What would cave paintings look like now, in 2020, when we are tucked away in caves of our own? I wanted to evoke the primal, how now our lives are lived inward. Our interactions are mediated through a screen, which is a source of both comfort and dread. As much as we are connected to our friends and families, we are also consumed by an infinite feed of terrible news. All we can do is keep scrolling.
