History of Project
Early in 2018 Pam Fugere began discussions between Ella Sharp Museum, the Jackson District Library, and the Jackson County Genealogical Society about the development of an obituary index of Michigan deaths as listed in the Jackson County newspapers. All of these organizations had bits and pieces of information, but no one had ever done a concise review of the newspapers.
A team was formed, volunteers were trained, existing indexes were compiled and reformatted, card files reviewed and input from the three organizations. Newspaper review began in May, 2019.
