

Stellar Day
Join three Jackson attractions for a fun, communitywide day celebrating astronomy on August 12th!
Participating locations:
- Jackson College Astronomical Observatory
- Ella Sharp Museum
- Dahlem Center
Open to All!
Each guest will receive a passport to take to each location. Collect a stamp at all three sites and be entered into a raffle to win a print of M31 (the Andromeda Galaxy) captured by the Jackson College Astronomical Observatory.
Schedule
Jackson College Astronomical Observatory
Solar observing: 12 – 4 p.m.
Observatory tours every 30 minutes: 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, and 3:30 p.m.
(All Jackson College activities take place at the Astronomical Observatory.)
Evening Observations:
9 – 11 p.m.: Observe Venus at elongation and other celestial objects.
11 p.m. – 2 a.m.: Enjoy dark skies for viewing the Perseid meteor shower.
Ella Sharp Museum
Planetarium shows: 12, 3, 4, and 5 p.m.
Explore a scale model of the Earth – Moon system on Farm Lane: 12 – 5 p.m.
Dahlem Center
12 – 5 p.m.
Scaled Solar System Walk, Sun prints and Solar energy scavenger hunt.
