Art, Beer, and Wine Festival presented by County National Bank
Art, Beer, and Wine Festival Breaks Records
The 14th Annual Art, Beer, and Wine Festival was a Great Success 3225 Fourth Street, Jackson, MI– June 12, 2018 – Ella Sharp Museum welcomed a record-breaking crowd for the 14th annual Art, Beer, and Wine Festival presented by County National Bank. Almost six thousand people strolled through the museum campus enjoying great art, live music, delicious food, and of course the best that Michigan breweries and wineries have to offer. Kyle Liechty, festival director, noted that the turnout has quadrupled since the early years of the festival. This year, the Ella expanded the festival footprint which created space for more artists and other vendors. The event featured more than 150 booths, an increase of 20 over last year. More than 60 artists showcased their wares and 15 musicians entertained the crowd throughout the day.
The event is an important fund-raiser for the museum and part of the museum’s overall funding mix, which also includes membership dues, contributions, and facility rental fees. This year, Art, Beer, and Wine grossed more than $200,000 which will be used for museum operations, including programming and staffing. This is truly a community festival, as more than 300 volunteers devoted the day to helping the museum’s staff manage the event.
The festival has also become an important community event that makes Jackson a destination. “We are pleased and proud to host this landmark festival and to share Jackson with visitors from near and far,” explained Diane Gutenkauf, Executive Director of Ella Sharp Museum. “People look forward to it all year, and visitors tell us that they even factor it into their vacation planning and family reunions!” In addition to local residents, the festival draws visitors from across the country and Canada. This year, guests came from as far away as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, and Texas.
“We’re already thinking about how we can make the festival even better next year,” Liechty said. In 2019, the event will be held on June 8. “But you don’t have to wait until next year to continue to enjoy the museum,” added Gutenkauf. “We host Patio Parties every Thursday evening through the summer, so come out to enjoy live music and mingle with friends over appetizers. And we have new art and history exhibits in our galleries.”
